How to install a FiveM loading screen

Updated 2026-10-31About 5 minutes

A FiveM loading screen is a normal server resource. Players see it while they connect, before they spawn in. Installing one takes four steps, and it works the same on ESX, QBCore, Qbox or a standalone server.

How a FiveM loading screen works

Any resource can be a loading screen. Its fxmanifest.lua points FiveM at an HTML page with the loadscreen directive, and FiveM shows that page full screen while the client downloads resources and loads the map. Because it is just HTML, CSS and JavaScript, a loading screen can play video and music, show your logo and link to your Discord.

fx_version 'cerulean'
game 'gta5'

loadscreen 'index.html'
files { 'index.html', 'style.css', 'script.js', 'assets/*' }

A finished loading screen already has this set up, so you only need the steps below.

Step 1: Add the resource to your server

Unzip the loading screen and copy its folder into your server’s resources directory. You can put it inside a category folder such as resources/[ui]/; the square brackets tell FiveM it is a folder of resources, not a resource itself. Keep the folder name exactly as it is, because you refer to it by that name in the next step.

Step 2: Ensure it in server.cfg

Open server.cfg and add an ensure line with the folder name:

ensure kvaki-loadingscreen

On txAdmin, open the CFG Editor in the web panel, add the line and save. The name must match the folder name exactly, including capital letters and dashes.

Step 3: Remove the old loading screen

FiveM uses one loading screen at a time. If another resource also declares loadscreen in its manifest, comment out its ensure line with a # or remove it, so the two don’t fight over the screen. Recipes and starter packs often ship with one already enabled.

Step 4: Restart and reconnect

Restart the server, then disconnect and connect again. The loading screen only runs while a player is joining, so restarting the resource while you are already in game won’t show it. Clear your FiveM cache if you still see the old one.

Want a loading screen made for your server?

kvaki makes custom FiveM loading screens: cinematic scenes rendered in Blender and personalised with your server’s name, logo and players. They’re standalone, ready 24–48 hours after payment and install exactly as above. Watch the FiveM loading screens.
